NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH CRIME ALERTs

In the past, we have experienced a rash of stolen Mopeds, Scooters, and Dirt Bikes from neighborhoods throughout Chesterfield County. These crime prevention reminders may prevent you from becoming a victim of this type of larceny.

• •Keep your property well lit.

• •Always remember to remove your keys, utilize the handlebar lock, and utilize a supplemental method of securing the vehicle (heavy duty lock and chain, u-lock, etc).

• • If possible keep these vehicles locked in a secured garage or shed.

• • Photograph your vehicle and record the identification number, make and model.

If you see any suspicious activity, try to get the best possible description of the vehicle/suspect without putting yourself and others in danger and report the activity to the Chesterfield County Police Department immediately by dialing 911.

Other Tips for Homeowners:

• • Lock all doors !!!

• • DO NOT leave any valuables (GPS Units, I-Pods, Laptops, etc.) in your vehicle.

• • Park in a well-lighted area.

• • Report all suspicious activity (persons, vehicles, etc.) to the Police Department immediately by calling 911 for emergencies and 748-1251 for non-emergencies.

The majority of the vehicles broken into were not locked. These crimes might have been deterred if the vehicles were locked.
